Sine Qua Non held its annual General Assembly in a hybrid session in Geneva

Feb 28, 2024

The assembly was preceded by a training session on the UN system on Human Rights and a visit to the Palais des Nations

On Saturday, February 24, Sine Qua Non held its annual General Assembly, which took place both in Geneva and online.

To make the members of the association acquaintanced with the Human Rights system of the United Nations, SQN organized a onsite training session the previous day. It focused on the main mechanisms available to human rights defenders and civil society organisations to protect human rights and to advance in their causes. The training emphasized the structure and functions of the United Nations, but it also gave information about its origins, and it ended with an overview of the International Geneva.

After the onsite session, SQN complemented the training with a visit to the Palais des Nations, home of the UN in Geneva, where the members of SQN could complement the information received on the previous session.

On Saturday morning, SQN celebrated its General Assembly. The Association presented to the members all the relevant information about the work done the previous year and the details on its financial situation and perspectives, and gave a comprehensive overview of the planned goals for the year 2024.

The meeting was very well valued by all members, who had the opportunity to have their questions answered and their doubts resolved. It was also a great way to spend time together, learning new issues and discussing topics of interest.
