Sine Qua Non is pleased to announce that it has been granted Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), following the recommendation adopted by the United Nations Committee on Non-Governmental Organisations on 19 May 2025.
ECOSOC consultative status is the principal mechanism through which civil society organisations participate in the work of the United Nations. The status allows accredited organisations to attend relevant meetings and conferences, submit written statements, engage with UN bodies and mechanisms, organise side events, and contribute expertise to international policy discussions.
For Sine Qua Non, this recognition represents an important milestone in the organisation’s development and international engagement. It will provide new opportunities to bring the perspectives of civil society actors into multilateral discussions and to contribute to efforts to strengthen human rights, democratic governance, civic participation, conflict transformation, and the rule of law.
The status will also facilitate closer cooperation with other accredited organisations, UN agencies, and international stakeholders working to address global challenges and promote inclusive and peaceful societies.
Sine Qua Non would like to thank all members, partners, and supporters who have contributed to this achievement. The organisation looks forward to making full use of this new platform to support civil society participation and to contribute constructively to the work of the United Nations.
